SAFETY FIRST FOR ECT

26/02/2007

ECT, one of the UK’s leading social enterprises which provides a range of environmental and transport services, have been assessed by British Standards Institute and has been awarded the internationally accepted OHSAS 18001 accreditation standard in January 2007, in recognition of health and safety standards operated within ECT and the commitment made by ECT in putting health and safety issues at the top of its agenda.

The Accreditation has been awarded to ECT Recycling.

OHSAS 18001 covers areas such as an organisation’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy, the nature of its activities and risks and the complexity of its operations.

The in-depth assessment covered areas such as roadside recycling operations, staff training and awareness, driver training, yard operations and traffic management at operational sites.

“We put health and safety issues first and foremost and are committed to ensuring we create a safe working environment for our staff and members of the public who come into contact with our services.

We are pleased that our hard work and commitment in this area has been recognised through the awarding of the ISO 18001 OHSAS standard” Rhona Coulter, ECT’s Recycling Operations Director.
