The London Borough of Ealing, in partnership with May Gurney Environmental Services, provides a range of services that make getting into the recycling habit easy.
Recycle From Home is an easy-to-use, weekly doorstep service operating across the borough. With the service households receive a box that can be filled with a whole range of materials for recycling. The contents are then collected, sorted and taken away to be recycled.
Flats Recycling Service is weekly service for residents living in medium to high-rise flats. Under the scheme, mini recycling centres are installed which residents can use to recycle all their paper, glass and cans. Use the links below to find out more.
Garden Waste is collected weekly. It is a free service which collects waste garden material for composting from homes in Ealing. Garden waste should be placed in your pink re-usable sack.
Plastic Waste is collected weekly by the same vehicle that collects your garden waste. Plastic items should be placed loose in your white re-usable sack with the lid closed to prevent lightweight items from blowing away. Most plastics may be put out for collection except for tetra packs, large items (such as garden furniture), toys, polystyrene and any electrical or electronic items. Please rinse and flatten as much plastic as you can and do not mix plastics with any other recycling.
Food waste accounts for 24% of household refuse in Ealing. It is a waste sending this valuable resource to be buried in landfill as it can be turned into compost. All eligible residents should have received a sealable 21 litre food waste bin that can be used for all biodegradable food. You cannot use the food waste bin for pet litter or faeces, any kind of packaging, plastic bags or other general waste. Your food waste bin cannot be collected if any non-food waste items are found inside, although you may line your bin with newspaper. Plastic cannot be composted and will contaminate the load. Your bin will not be emptied if plastic bags are used. The bin has a sealable lid to prevent spills and smells and protects the contents from vermin such as foxes and rats. On your collection day, you should place your food waste bin alongside your green box at the front of your property where it can be clearly seen by the collection operatives. Your food waste bin and green box should be out by 7.30am to guarantee collection. If you are unable to carry your food waste bin to the front of your property call Ealing customer services on (020) 8825 6000 to arrange a doorstep collection. For more information call the May Gurney Ealing Kitchen Waste service on 0208 813 3880.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre is a service which gives residents another opportunity to get into the recycling habit. At the centre, you can recycle and dispose of a wide range of goods. Use the links below to find out more.
